Position Summary

While working as a human resources intern, you will be tasked with assisting the human resources department in whatever capacity necessary. You will be responsible for working with the HR team to help recruit candidates, prepare essential recruiting paperwork, and complete other administrative HR tasks. The person in this position assists with performing the operational functions of the department, ensuring that the human resources department can be successful with all tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Screen Indeed email alerts and contact potential candidates
  • Conduct phone screens to help with the screening process and assess potential next steps for candidates
  • Schedule interviews for candidates and prepare interview paperwork for the hiring managers
  • Utilize job boards, community contacts, and college campuses to advertise open positions and attract the most qualified candidates
  • Attend hiring fairs and networking events to meet potential candidates
  • Interact with the HR team as well as hiring managers to determine if the candidate is the best fit for the job
  • Utilize internet sites such as LinkedIn and Craigslist to source potential candidates
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner so as to attract the most qualified applicants
  • Attend daily staff meetings
  • Attend meetings with managers and coworkers to discuss business related topics
  • Assist with monthly employment events held at Strategic Factory and continuously update and communicate with attendees
  • Follow up with candidates via phone and email
  • Assist with other responsibilities as necessary

Nonessential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with payroll processing
  • Assist with new hire paperwork and data entry
  • Attend seminars and HR events to learn more about common HR practices and strategies

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Computer Skills

Performing this job successfully requires that an individual have a concrete understanding of computers, email, and data entry especially a hands-on familiarity with applicant tracking software, online job boards, Microsoft Office, computer calendars, email and the internet

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical demands
    • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is often required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work environment
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; consisting of telephones, computers, and printers operating.
